Step 1: click on network icon at the right top corner of the linux Desktop, Click on ‘Edit Connections…’.

You will see a pop up Network Connection window. Now you have two options to set static IP one is by editing the already created connection another one is by creating new connection. This guide will take you through both way of Static IP configuration.

Option 1: By editing already created connection.

Step 2: Select the Ethernet connection shown and click ‘Edit’.

Step 3: In the Editing window select IPV4 Setting tab.

Step 4: Select ‘Manual’ from the drop down list for ‘Method’ and click ‘Add’.

Step 5: Enter IP address (in the format 10.254.254.nn) and Netmask(255.255.255.0) and click ‘Save’.

Option 2: By creating new network connection

Step 2: Click on ‘Add’ to create new connection.

Step 3: in the pop up window select ‘Ethernet’ and click ‘create…’.

Step 4: In the edit window enter ‘Connection name’ and select ‘Device MAC address’. (to check your ethernet mac address use “ifconfig -a” command on your command terminal)

Step 5: Click on IPV4 Settings and Select ‘Manual’ from the drop down list for ‘Method’ and click ‘Add’.

Step 6: Enter IP address (in the format 10.254.254.nn) and Netmask(255.255.255.0) and click ‘Save’.
